Son of Wiiliam and Maud Hartigan of 64 Bondi Road, Waverley, Sydney, NSW; brother of Frank Hartigan who returned to Australia on the 25 September 1919 after having served with the 5 Field Company Engineers

My Uncle, Reginald William Hartigan 35615 Gunner 2nd Bde, Australian Field Artillery died 19-8-1918 in the 'Last Big Push' near Villers- Brettoneux, in The Somme, shortly before Armistice declared....he's buried with many of his Digger mates in Daours, Somme, France..he was only 20 years old..His Headstone is inscribed, 'AS HE LIVED, HE DIED, HONOURABLY'.....Two brothers <one my Grandfather>Francis Xavier Hartigan, Sapper, went over together, and only one returned and my Grandfather was to die a premature death as a result of his Mustard Gas Poisoning..RIP..
