He was 23 and the son of Richard and Christina McKnight, of Wang Wauk, Nabiac, New South Wales.
There is an Australian soldier, R.W. McKnight commemorated on the Enniskillen War Memorial in County Fermanagh, Ireland but no connection between Driver McKnight and Ireland has been found.
It is possible that he may be Private William Richard McKnight, Service Number 30271-died 05/10/1918- who served with the 2nd Bn.,Canterbury Regiment, N.Z.E.F. He was the son of Thomas and Margaret McKnight, of Fivemiletown, Co. Tyrone, Ireland.
