Frederick Holmes MANSFIELD was not his real birth name - on his WW1 record he stated he was born in England which is incorrect

He was born George Whitefield WILLIAMS in Cooma, NSW in 1866

His parents were John WILLIAMS & Esther KILPATRICK

He served in the Boer War in the 2nd NSW Mounted Rifles and the 3rd NSW Imperial Bushmen (Roberts Horse for 12 months and 3rd NSW Bushmen for 18 months) and later enlisted to serve in WW1 on 23rd August, 1915 - he embarked on the HMAT Ulysses on 20th February, 1916 with the 1 Mining Corp, Company 1  ( one of his service numbers in the Boer War was recorded as both 833 and 883)  which one is correct is unknown

He returned to Australia on 20th July, 1917 on the ship HMAT Ayrshire and was discharged on 31st August, 1917 as medically unfit

Frederick died from senility on 20th March, 1936 and is buried in Rookwood Cemetery in Sydney
