The son of James and Charlotte Louisa Victoria Cavanagh. His brother 938 Driver Gordon James Cavanagh M.M. 10th Field Artillery Brigade was awarded a Military Medal for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty near Ypres on 14 October, 1917.
