John McGlynn was killed by a shell near Hellfire corner in Belgium when going up to the front on the Menin Road. His brother 3417 Pte. Donald Francis McGlynn, 1st Battalion AIF, died of wounds in France, 14 April 1917.
“He and his brother were my only sons, and I am a widow. I lost them both” details from mother on his roll of honour circular.
