"679 Corporal Thomas George Roy Champion, 9th Battalion. A carpenter from Grafton, NSW prior to enlistment, Cpl Champion embarked with F Company from Brisbane on HMAT Omrah on 24 September 1914. After taking part in the Gallipoli landing, he was wounded in action on 27 April 1915 and was transferred to HS Itonus where he subsequently died, aged 20, and was buried at sea.
