LCpl McGregor enlisted on 19 April 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Wandilla on 17 June 1915.

He later served as a sergeant and died on 21 July 1916 at 2nd CCS, Bailleul, of wounds received at Fromelles in France on 19 July 1916 while serving with the 58th Battalion.
