William Francis Lyon Dodson was born in 1889, he grew up in Alberton, Port Adelaide, South Australia. William's occupation before he went off to war was a clerk, a clerk is an office worker, they keep records, accounts etc. At age 26 when William was married he went off to war. His unit embarked from Adelaide, South Australia on board HMAT A2 Geelong. William Francis Lyon Dodson was a 2nd Lieutenant in the 10th Battalion. However, unfortunately William was killed in action on the 19-20 September in 1917. It is terrifying to imagine going to war, it wouldn't have been a very pleasant experience, especially for the young men who went to war.
