From Narelle Howe, Tasmania in the Great War

Pte John (Jack) Hall was born at West Pine near Penguin. Enlisted 13th April 1916 into the 12th Infantry Battalion, AIF. He developed measles soon after departing. In May 1917 he was shot in the arm. He rejoined and fought in the battle of Ypres. In September 1917 he suffered a gunshot wound to the back. Discharged June 1918. Died in January 1949 & was buried at Carr Villa.
