Brother: Brig General H.E. "Pompey" Elliott, CB, CMG, DSO, DCM, VD, Croix de Guerre.

Played 1 game (1905) for Fitzroy Football Club and 79 games (1908-13) for University Football Club (Captain 1911-12) in the VFL prior to enlisting.

Whilst attached to the 56th Battalion, he was awarded the Military Cross for "his work and splendid devotion to duty" between 13 and 17 May 1917.

Capt Elliott was killed in action at Polygon Wood on 25 September 1917 and was buried in The Huts Cemetery Belgium.
