Paterson

On Tuesday evening last the Rev. Canon Hirst was in receipt of a telegram from the military authorities asking him to convey to Mrs. W. Kidd, Tocal, Paterson the sympathy of the King and Queen and the Commonwealth Government in the loss of her son, Trooper Sidney Kidd, who was Killed In Action on the 7th August last. Trooper Sidney Kidd is the first of our local men to meet his death while in action, and although regretting deeply his death, we are proud of the noble sacrifice he made for his country. When the sad news gradually circulated, there were many expressions of sorrow for the widowed mother and her large family in their sad bereavement. Sid, who was only 23 years of age. Was a fine, manly fellow and admired by many.
