Great Sydney Central Station Honour Board
No Railway employment record card can be located for Sydney Hamilton BRABAZON (Service Number 3471). He was born in Redfern about January 1897. The only possible reference to railway service is the employment of a William Brabazon as a temporary porter at Darling Harbour Goods Inwards in 1911.
He enlisted at Holdsworthy in October 1915. He embarked from Australia through Sydney on HMAT ‘Berrima’ on 12 December 1915, joining the 4th Battalion at Tel-el-Kebir in February 1916. He was disciplined at Serapeum in March for absenting himself whilst on duty.
He left Egypt through Alexandria and reached France through Marseilles 1 March 1916.
He was killed in action on 25 July 1916 and was buried in the vicinity of Pozières, though the location is now lost. He is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, Picardie, France.
