Son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Shiers, of Adelaide, South Australia.
Able Seaman Arthur Ernest Shiers, 21, was a son of Mr. Alfred Shiers. of Kent Town, and the late Mrs. Shiers. He joined the navy shortly after the outbreak of war and had been in the Sydney in all her engagements in the Mediterranean. Educated at the Henley Beach Public School, A.B. Shiers later worked on a farm at Yundi and was employed at General Motors Holden's when he enlisted. One of his three brothers. William is in the R.A.A.F.
