Son of Victor and Laura Dimma Gordon Coppin, of Semaphore, South Australia.

Assistant Steward George William Coppin, 19, elder son of Mrs. L. Coppin. of Dudley street, Semaphore, and the late Mr. V Coppin, was born at  Semaphore. He was educated at Lefevre's School and Woodville High School. Fond of country life, he worked on several stations. He sang in the  choir of St. Bede's, Semaphore.
