Able-Seaman Donald Betterman, 22, the only son of William Charles and Emily Charlotte Betterman of Kintore street, Mile-End, was living at Kapunda until he enlisted  in the R.A.N on May 7. 1940. He joined the Sydney last March. A keen swimmer and an expert rifle shot, A.B. Betterman was educated at the Kapunda Public and High Schools.
