Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Son of Sydney and Ivy Sauerwald, of Adelaide, South Australia.

Mrs. R. G. Sauerwald, of North terrace, Adelaide, has been notified that her husband, F-Sgt. Raymond George Sauerwald, 22, has been reported missing after a Wellington bomber, of which he was a member of the crew, failed to return to its base from  operation over Bucharest on May 7. Before enlisting in August, 1941, F-Sgt Sauerwald was employed by the Government Printing Office. He played with the Embassy Dance Band and the Hawaiian Club. He left Australia in April, 1943 and served in England, Italy, and the Middle East. He is the only child of Mr. and Mrs. S. Sauerwald, of Carrondown.
