He was the son of Henry and Jane Warren Lyons; husband of Hilda Mary Lyons, of The Post Office, Albany, Western Australia.
He went to South Africa where he took part in the Zulu War of 1906-7 as a member of the mounted police. [This was probably The Bambatha Rebellion 1906–1907]. He was awarded the King's Medal for services rendered during that 'war'.
On July 10th 1912 he married Hilda Mary Gardiner of Middleton Rd, Albany and had 2 daughters.
Enlistment date-6 August 1917.
