In one form he informs them that his Overseas Service was in New Guinea with the RAAF No. 74 Wing HBRTU - Heavy Bomber Replacement Training Unit. The RAAF No. 74 (Combined) Wing had been formed in August 1943 and was headquartered at Port Moresby that came under the aegis of Northern Command (RAAF). HBRTU was formed 1 September 1944 at Strathpine, Queensland before relocating to Nadzab Airfield New Guinea on 16 September 1944. On Alfred’s discharge application his last unit is stated as 7OTU (Operational Training Unit). | |
