Son of Alfred Etienne Besson-O'Donovan and Lydia Maud Besson-Donovan  nee Asheu of  Racecourse Road, Ascot, Brisbane, QLD. 

Commenced return to Australia 30 June 1918 aboard HS Kanowna disembarking on 3 September 1918 at Sydney for onward travel to Brisbane
