RAAF Beaufighter aircraft A19-22 of 31 Squadron crashed into Fog Bay, Timor Sea after turning back from an operational mission due to engine trouble - both crewmen were killed: Sergeant Ronald Thomas Hand 28891 & Warrant Officer Mervyn Campbell Smith 400047
