Alfred Kershaw STRODE was born on 29th July, 1896 at 110 Williamson Street, Bendigo, Victoria

His parents were Alfred STRODE and Kate/Catherine KERSHAW

He had previously served for 2 years with the Senior Cadets and 1 year with the 67th Infantry before he enlisted in Bendigo on 3rd August, 1915 and embarked from Melbourne with the 6th reinforcements on the HMAT Ulysses on 27th October, 1915

He was transferred to the 8th Infantry Battalion on 24th February, 1916 - last rank Signaller

Alfred was Killed in Action on 26th July, 1916 in Pozieres, France due to shell wounds - he has no known grave and his name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial and the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial

Medals:  1914-15 Star, British War Medal & Victory Medal.
