Siblings George William Clarence, Florence M, Ronald Hamilton.

It was on the 15th of April 1917 whilst with the 5th Machine Gun Company between Bullecourt and Lagnicourt that Cecil was with his section preparing to attack. The Germans attacked first and were held off from 4.00 am until 9.00 am. The Australians took heavy casualties, were outnumbered and surrounded. From the two companies of infantry and four machine guns there were only about thirty of them left when they surrendered.

Cecil escaped shortly before the war ended.
