JESU IN THY TENDER KEEPING LEAVE WE HERE A LOVED ONE SLEEPING
Mr. and Mrs. Williams, of Caliph, have been notified that their second son, Dvr. Alec Herbert Williams, lost his life in New Guinea as a result of enemy air operations on October 10. Born in 1923, Dvr. Williams assisted on his father's farm for about two years after leaving school. He later worked for Mr Jim Ellis of Mt. Compass for over a year. Immediately prior to joining the AMF in February, 1942, he was employed by Mr. J. Byrnes (storekeeper) of Finniss. He went to New Guinea in July as a transport driver, but was transferred to his platoon workshop about a week before his death.
Dvr. Williams was a keen cricketer and horseman. His elder brother Jim, has served in RAAF since February 1941.
