Leonard Tom PAROISSIEN was born on 13th March, 1894 in South Australia
His parents were Thomas PAROISSIEN and Bertha Sarah CUNNINGHAM
He first enlisted for WW1 in Morphettville, SA on 3rd September, 1914 and embarked on 17th September, 1914 on the HMAT Geelong with the 12th Battalion, F Company, 3rd Infantry Brigade - he had been promoted to Lance Corporal on 3rd September, 1914 and to Corporal on 1st April, 1915
He was wounded by a gun shot wound to the hand on 8th May, 1915 in the Dardanelles and was invalided home on 10th May, 1915 on the ship Kyarra and arrived on 17th November, 1915 - he was discharged as medically unfit on 17th November, 1915
He was awarded the 1914-15 Star, British War Medal & the Victory Medal

In 1918 Leonard married Annie Mary MORRIS at St Andrews Presbyterian Church in Mount Gambier - 3 known children, Ann Marguerite Mary, Peter Owen Len & Cuthbert John

Leonard enlisted for WW2 on 29th may, 1941 in Keswick, SA & was living in Malvern at the time
He was a Warrant Officer, class 1 and with the 16 base Ordnance Depot and was discharged on 22nd September, 1947.
He died in 1958 in Adelaide, South Australia - he was cremated at Centennial Park Cemetery in Adelaide & was residing in Malvern at the time

His brother Jim Cunningham PAROISSIEN (SN407801) served in the RAAF in WW2 and died in a flying battle in Sicily on 28th April, 1943
His son Cuthbert John PAROISSIEN (SN SX29680) and (SN S43065) served in WW2 in the Australian Army and was discharged in 1946
Another son Peter Owen Len PAROISSIEN (SN SX21473) and (SN S15462) also served in the Army in WW2 and was discharged in 1946

Corporal Leonard Tom Paroissien who was wounded at the Dardanelles a few days ago, is a son of Mr. & Mrs. T. Paroissien of Mount Gambier and grandson of the late Mr. J.H. Cunningham He was educated at the Grammar School, Mount Gambier.
Four years ago he joined the staff of the National Bank and after two years went to Kadina and then to Strathalbyn. From there he went in to camp in August
