Died on this date - 30th August........William John Kaniers was born at Back Creek, Bendigo, Victoria in 1890.
He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 29th June, 1915 as a 24 year old Labourer.
Private Kaniers arrived in France on 2nd April, 1916.
He was hospitalised & invalided to England in February, 1917 suffering from Bronchitis.
Private Kaniers rejoined his Battalion (1st Australian Pioneers) in France on 16th October, 1917.
He was appointed Lance Corporal in January, 1918.
Lance Corporal Kaniers was wounded in France on 23rd August, 1918.
He was invalided to England & admitted to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Netley, Hampshire on 29th August, 1918.
Lance Corporal William John Kaniers died at 2.40 am on 30th August, 1918 & was buried in Netley Military Cemetery, Hampshire, England where 49 other Australian WW1 Soldiers are buried.
