1 Apr 1916: Embarked Private, 5038, 5th Infantry Battalion, HMAT Suffolk, Melbourne
9 Oct 1916: Wounded AIF WW1, 5038, 58th Infantry Battalion, Suffered a gunshot wound to the back, transferred to hospital in UK and rejoined unit in France on 27 April 1917.
15 May 1917: Wounded AIF WW1, Private, 5038, 58th Infantry Battalion, Harry was wounded in action a second time, suffering gunshot wounds to the Chest (serious) and left knee, he was evacuated to England and eventually discharged as medically unfit. Harry returned to Australia on 25 August 1917.

Harry was the second son of Frank Yardington and Hanorah Ashwin from Horsham in western Victoria, Australia.  Harry was raised and educated in Horsham, along with his seven siblings, and cousin Alfred, where the family was well known and respected.

After recovering from his injuries sustained in action in France during WW1, Harry went on to marry Rosa Flora Lathbridge in 1919 settling in the Horsham area woring as a carpenter and having three children.

Harry’s wife died in 1941 in the southern Melbourne suburb of Mordialloc, to where Harry and his wife must have retired.  Harry also died in Mordialloc and at his death he was noted as being a war pensioner.
