Private William Frances Joraslafsky (Service Nos:S1119000/SX30763) initially served in the ACMF with 18 Infantry Battalion from 11 January 1943 to 1 May 1943, and was 'in the field' at Battle Station NSW when he enlisted in the AIF on 2 May 1943. Private Joraslafsky was attached to 2/24 Infantry Battalion on 31 October 1943 when he embarked with his Unit from Townsville for Port Moresby, returning from Finschafen to Brisbane on 4 March 1944 on board the Sea Snipe. Private Joraslafsky served in Morotai and Tarakan (3 April 1945 to 9 March 1946) with 2/24 Infantry Battalion, 2/3 Pioneer Battalion and 1 Australian Press Unit. Private Joraslafsky was attached to 2/24 Infantry Battalion at Discharge on 5 September 1946.

Bill was born in Adelaide, South Australia in 1924, second of five children of Francis Otto Joraslafsky (b1900 in Kooringa via Burra, South Australia) and Muriel Lavina Mathan Lines (b1903 at Matta Flat via Kadina, South Australia). Francis (a Labourer) and Muriel married in 1923 in Adelaide, where they settled and raised their family and Francis was a Labourer and Clerk. Francis served in WWII (Private; Service No:SX3467).

Bill was working in Adelaide as a Bristle Mixer when he enlisted in the Army in 1943. Bill died in Ingle Farm, Salisbury, Adelaide in 2003.
