Son of Mr and Mrs J.F. SNELL, of 16 Bennett Street, West Thebarton, SA. Educated at Thebarton Public and Tehnical Schools he enjoyed all round sport and was a Sea Scout and played Soccer for Underdale Sea Scouts Club. He was working with Hallett's Roff Tiling Department when he joined the AMF in October 1941. His father, J.F. SNELL saw service in the Great War with the 173rd Field Battery in the British Army.
