HIS DUTY FEARLESSLY AND NOBLY DONE EVER REMEMBERED

Married with two children Percival was residing at 35 Horner Street, Solomontown when he enlisted in February 1942.  Educated at Solomontown Public School he was interested in riding, and prior to enlistment was employed with B.H. Pty. Whyalla.

Pte. Percival Wilfred Tully, of the A.I.F., who was killed in action in New Guinea on November 30, spent practically all his life in Pirie. He was born in  Redhill 33 years ago, and was brought to Pirie by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Tully, now of Wright street, Solomontown, when a child. He attended both Pirie and Solomontown Schools, and when he left he worked for some time with Mr. E. R. Thompson, contractor. After that he spent about two years in  Whyalla. He enlisted in 1940 in the A.I.F., and after having seen service in the Middle East returned to Australia with the Ninth Division in March this  year.
As a lad he was a keen footballer and lover of horses. He appeared in the show ring many times on horses owned by Mrs. Estick, of Solomontown, and  was an accomplished rider over show hurdles. The last horse he rode to a prize ribbon was Little Rocket.
Pte. Tully has left a widow (formerly Miss Elsie Templer, of Peterborough) and two small daughters, Margaret and Lynette. His elder brother, Harold, is  also in New Guinea.
