Biography

Pte. Frederick Sydney George Sayner of Port Pirie. Aged 24. Grandson of Mrs E L Sayner of 23 Tenth Street Port Pirie. Educated at Port Pirie West School. All-round sport: fond of football, tennis, cricker and swimming. In civil life was for eight years in the emlpoy of W Sayner of Florence Street. Enlisted in AIF 2/10th Batt. on 6th May 1941. Had been on active service in the Middle East and returned to Australia in March 1942, then sent to New Guinea and took part in action at Milne Bay. Died if wounds received in New Guinea on 1st January 1943.
