Biography

John Lucy came from a pioneer South Australian family. After service in the reserve, he enlisted for overseas service in 2/48th Bn. on 5-5-41 with rank of Lieutenant and later Captain.

He was wounded in action in Nth Africa 25-9-1942, and evacuated home. Fit for restricted duties 15-5-43.  After staff postings, he gained a small boats engineer qualification, and served in New Guinea, Thursday Island, and Borneo, including in 16th Aust Small Ship Company from 1-11-1945. Discharged 1-2-1946, and continued in Army Reserve in 2/10th Bn. Promoted Major on retirement in 1957.
