Ivan Hanel at Tel el eisa
Ivan was a Friend of my Grandfather Herb Ashby, who arrived with him as a reinforcement at Tobruk. My Grandfather's account of private A S Gurney's assault at Tel el Eisa initiated him Winning the Victoria Cross. Ivan Hanel was with Stan Gurney In the initial part of this action on west point 24 but was unfortunately cut down by machine gun fire
Gurneys VC summary reads
