Private Norman Edwin Rogers (Service No:SX961) enlisted in the AIF on 27 November 1939, and was attached to 2/10th Infantry Battalion on 5 May 1940 when he embarked with his Unit for Gourock, Scotland. From Scotland, Private Rogers embarked with 2/31st Infantry Battalion for the Middle East on 3 January 1941, returning from the Middle East (Medically Unfit) to Adelaide on 21 November 1941. Private Rogers was attached to HQ Guard Battalion at Discharge on 6 July 1942.

Eldest of two children, Norm was born in Riverton, South Australia in 1917 to Francis (Frank) Malachi Rogers (b1890 at William Creek, South Australia) and Beatrice Letitia Peek (b1892 at Mt Barker, South Australia). Frank and Beatrice married in Mt Barker in 1915, and lived in Riverton, Kapunda and Adelaide, where they raised their family and Frank was a Labourer.

Norm worked as a Drover, Boundary Rider and Colt Breaker in Kapunda prior to enlisting in the Army in 1939. Following his Discharge (Medically Unfit) in 1942, Norm was working as a Stockman near Broken Hill, NSW when he married Lola Mackelcan Johns (b1914 in Perth, Western Australia) - Lola was a Nurse in Broken Hill. Norm and Lola lived on Tuililkey Station via Terowie SA, in Oodnadatta and at Quinambye Station via Broken Hill, where Norm was a Stockman. By 1949, Lola was a Nurse in Broken Hill and Norm was a Drover on Mt Riddock Station via Alice Springs in the Northern Territory. By 1954 both Norm and Lola were in Western Australia - Norm was Overseer on Mardie Station via Roebourne, and Lola was a Nurse in Muckinbudin - and by 1958 Lola had remarried and settled in Fremantle. Norm continued to work as an Overseer, retiring to New Norcia in 1980, before returning to South Australia, where he died in 1994.
