Biography

Son of Peter Joseph and Hannah Cecilia McBRIDE, husband of Jean Mercia McBRIDE of Port Pirie, SA

ON WHOSE SOUL, SWEET JESUS, HAVE MERCY. LOVING HUSBAND OF JEAN

L/CPL Francis Andrew McBride, 2/10th Batt, AIF of 117 Gertrude Street, Port Pirie. Aged 27, married. Son of Mr PJ and the late Mrs McBride, of Crystal Brook. Educated at Crystal Brook Stanilaus School. He was fond of tennis and football and was a member of 2/10th Regimental Band. Enlisted September 1039. Was a stretcher bearer in Tobruk, Egypt and Syrian campaigns. Returned to Australia in March 1942. Died on August 28 1942, of wounds recieved in Japanese attack on Milne Bay.
