Red Cross Appeal
Private Eleanor Afford became one of ‘the faces’ chosen by the Australian Red Cross, to help promote their ongoing appeals to Australians to urgently donate blood.
With the image of the Australian flag behind her, Eleanor’s smiling face was projected onto the big screen in cinemas before the showing of the feature film to inspire and encourage patriotic Australians to come forward and donate their blood as part of the War effort.
Eleanor was awarded the War Medal 1939-45 and Australia Service Medal 1939-45
