Son of George Hawkesford and Emily Amelia Hawkesford of 28 Federal Street, Hobart, Tasmania. Brother of Horace Hawkesford who died on Malaria on 24 October 1918 while serving with the Australian Service Corps (Supply) and is buried in the Beirut British War Cemetery Grave 343, Sydney Montague Hawkesford who return to Australia in March 1919 having served with the 3rd Australian General Hospital; Milford George Hawkesford who disembarked on 15 January 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Tasmania having served with the Army Medical Corps
Commenced return to Australia on 4 January 1919 aboard HT Morvada disembarking on 23 February 1919
