Mid-air collision between RAAF Wirraway aircraft A20-349 and A20-277 of Number 2 Operational Training Unit near Mildura resulting in the deaths of the crew of A20-349 - Pilot Officer Geoffrey Taaffe 421099 and Sergeant Alan Bates 413510
The pilot of A20-277 was also killed Sergeant John Ryan 414839 - the crew member survived after baling out of the stricken aircraft (FLTLT J.S. Menzies)
