IN LOVING MEMORY OF MY DEAR HUSBAND SADLY MISSED
A few weeks ago Mrs. M. E. Bell (nee Marj Roy), of 133 Docker street, Wagga, received word that her husband. Pte. Leslie Edward Bell, AIF formerly of Queanbeyan, had been killed in action. Since then Mrs. Bell has received a letter from a Lieut Thomson stating that he was wounded in the same action as her husband at Finschhafen on September 26. Pte Bell fought in the battle of Lae and also served in the Middle East, being one of the original 'Rats of Tobruk.' He also fought at El Alamein. Pte Bell, who returned to Australia with the famous Ninth Division, has two brothers serving in the forces— Gnr A. J. Bell and Lieut. F. G. Bell. Both have served In the Middle East andNew Guinea.
