Sgt. John Livingstone Brooks (20), of the R.A.A.F., Is reported as missing, believed killed, from operations on September 5. Sgt. Jack Brooks, who was married in Sydney on July 17 to Miss K. Beattle of Sydney, was born in Brisbane but spent the greater part of his early life in Warwick. He was educated at the Warwick Central and the Wanvick High Schools. He left the High School while in his sub-Senior year to accept a position with the Rural Development Department in Brisbane. Six months later he joined the Air Force, enlisting in Brisbane in 1941 at the age of 18. He became a navigator and wireless operator. Jack Brooks is well remembered by the Scouting movement in Warwick, because of his keenness in its activities, whilc he also represented High School on occasions at the combined secondary school sports as a footrunner. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. W .G. Brooks, Albion street, a sister, and a brother.
