Lance Corporal Joseph Godfrey Dwyer later died in Australia on 6 May 1944 from wounds earlier received during the 2nd/17th Bn assault/defence of Jiveveneng Village, New Guinea in Novemebr 1943.

Joseph Godfrey DWYER was born in Wollongong, NSW on 22nd March, 1911

His parents were William Edward DWYER & Harriet NOLAN who married in Wollongong in 1906

He married Isabella Suttie ROBERTS in St Francis Xaviers Church in Wollongong on 18th April, 1942

Obituary from the newspaper reads:-

"Deep in our hearts, a memory is kept

of one we loved and will never forget"
