Biography contributed by Roger Blinko

William Albert Kinloch born 1922 and known to his family and friends as Billy was raised in Leeton, NSW

After attending Scotts College he worked in his Uncles Hardware store as a store assistant. But at age 19 yrs and 5 months he travelled to Sydney and signed up in April. 1942. After Basic and navigational training he was sent to Canada in June 1943. There he did traing in Edmonton and New Bruncwick before being transported to England. He attended 60 Operational Training Unit in Shrewsbury where he probably met and paired up with Justin Mulligan from Guyra, New South Wales. Justin of the same age was a farmer. They both joined 464 Squadron and flew many succesful missions together in Mosquito Bombers, one famous mission was the bombing of Gestapo Headquarters in the University of Aarhus, Denmark in October 1944.

But the risks were high as they would undoubtedly know and luck ran out on a Mission in April 1945 to the Ardenes Salient and they were downed by enemy action crashing near Niederpreum Germany and dying.

Recently Billy's niece Anne Burton, was asked to receive on the families behalf the Ribbon bar of the Commendation for Gallantry
Royal Australian Air Force Citation reads
