Sydney Herbert De Hochpied LARPENT was born in Cudgee, Victoria on 16th December, 1914
His parents were Lionel Herbert LARPENT & Catherine Jane COX who married in Victoria on 29th January, 1914 - his parents names are incorrect on some of his war records
He was Killed in Action at the Muar River in Malaya on 22nd January, 1942 - no known grave

His father Lionel Herbert LARPENT served during the Boer War (SN 1346) with the 5th Victorian Mounted Rifles
Two of his brothers also served in WW2
1. Lionel Egmont LARPENT (SN VX1359) discharged in 1945 Sapper with 2/2 Field Company
2. Francis Gerhard LARPENT (SN VX14770) discharged in 1945 - 2/2 Field Company
