Samuel Edward Lees 265672 / 55293 enlisted as an RAAF Armament Officer (service number 265672) in May 1942 after not being permitted to enlist as Aircrew - 12 months later he resigned his commission and was discharged from the RAAF so the next day he could re-enlist as an Aircrew Trainee (service number 55293) - he was killed in a Bus accident at the entrance to RAAF Number 6 Initial Training School at Bradfield Park in NSW a few months later
