Made the Supreme Sacrifice
PTE NORMAN LESLIE MATTHEWS, aged 28, of Wangaratta, who died of wounds on August 19. Pte Matthews a was a son of Mrs Matthews and the late Mr Charles Matthews, of Dixon St. Wangaratta. He enlisted in  December 1941, and went to New Guinea last January. He is  survived by his mother and one sister, Mrs. R,.C. Aldridge, Wangaratta.
