Lofty Maunder was good mates with Glibert 'Jack' John Mitchell another member of the 466 Squadron.
Jack's [84] article published in the Sun Herald in 2002 is the loveliest tribute to his good mate John Henry 'Lofty' Maunder decades later while advocating that the French government not disturb 'Lofty's' grave [and other colleagues] to build a new airport over three cemeteries where 61 Australians are buried from both world wars.
I'm sure Jack also considered the impact on 61 families of each and everyone of these brave Australians who paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country.
