Flight Sergeant Angus Milton Nicholls 32805 and Pilot Officer Ronald Victor Ellyard 406932 were killed in the loss of 12 Squadron RAAF Wirraway Aircraft A20-544 near Pine Creek, Pell, NT.  The accident  occurred at 1545 hrs 02/08/42, when the port wing separated from the airframe during a practice dive bombing attack at Pine Creek in the Northern Territory. The aircraft was completely wrecked and burnt out. The crew  were both killed.
