Mrs Mary Parker. Camperdown, has received word that her husband, Pte John Robert Parker, AIF, had died of illness in December while a pris-oner of war in Thailand. Pte Par-ker, who was 40, was born in Cam-perdown, where he had lived all his life. He served in the Army with distinction, and was mentioned in de-spatches. Before enlistment in 1940 he was employed at Milangil Estate. He was an active member of Cam-perdown Fire Brigade and Cycling Club, and on one occasion competed in Warrnambool-Melbourne road race.
