His parents were Leonard William PRITCHARD & Myrtle Irene ILLINGWORTH

His middle name was listed in his war records as William & Walter - he was born as Fred Leonard William

Son of Mr and Mrs. Leonard William PRITCHARD of 9 Gray Avenue, Welland South, SA.  Educated at Welland Public and Thebarton Technical School he enjoyed playing football and was fond of swimming.  He was a member of the Militia A.M.C. Sector for 3 years.  In civilian life Fred was employed with the S.A. Railways and stationed at many different country places.  He enlisted in June 1941 and trained at Victor Harbor and Ballarat.
