Son of Frederick John and Genevieve Constance Savage of 'Avonlea', Earle Terrace, Windsor, Brisbane, QLD; husband of Mary (known as Molly) Eileen Savage of Marion Street,  Miles, QLD and father of Paul Frederick Savage in attestion paper it refers to his son as Carl Frederick Savage. Mary laer remarried and was known as Mary Bryant of Oxley QLD

Plane was Lancaster 111 ND597 which crashed at Welsleben, Germany. An eyewitness said that the plane was on fire before it crashed and as there was no explosion it was assumed that the plane had dropped its load prior to crashing. It was on air operations over Berlin
