Flying Officer Threlkeld 761 in Kittyhawk AK691 of 3SQN was killed when his aircraft was shot down near El Adem

He was in a group of five Kittyhawk fighters from 3SQN that took off to intercept German bombers 10 miles south-east of El Adem - he was shot down by a Messerschmitt 109 fighter escort
